Beisbol on the Beach with gallery
A couple of weeks ago, I finally went down to the Sunday baseball game…the one that occurs on the beach in front of my apartment at low tide. One person I know who lives there says the noise is absolutely unbearable during a game. I can imagine. Between the beer and the music and the yelling and the music and the beer and the impact beer has on yelling…
And I know someone else who lives there who’s house was hit 4 times by a ball just while I was down there with my camera…which I’m guessing was about 3 innings.
But in spite of all of that, because I am such a fan of the game and because the game had become such a business in the US, it was nevertheless very touching to me to watch these guys play on a ‘field’ so full of obstacles. I mean left field is in the ocean! Which is why they have to play at low tide. Otherwise, there’s not enough room to play. No matter how much of a disturbance it may be to the neighborhood, it may be the first time in my life I’ve seen anyone play in those conditions and I can only assume that’s a pure love for the game.
I took photos in the middle of the action. The one shot of the guy running full on in rocks halfway up to his knees!! Running full speed ahead into tidal pools or slippery sharp underwater rock?? I’d like to see any American willing to play under those circumstances.
